About five years ago I read a book that had me thinking ‘yes, this is what we believe. Everything in this is obvious. So why don’t we do what this book says.’ That book was Total Church. It’s a book that reimagines church, so it’s not as focussed on events but gospel communities which are localised small groups of Christians ‘doing life’ for the sake of mission and discipleship.

Lots of churches record their sermons. It probably goes back to the days of cassette records, where a dedicated volunteer (or team) would spend hours checking on a tape duplicator, getting tapes ready either for congregation members or the mail. These days, most churches that record sermons, distribute their sermons via the internet (though, last week, I heard about a church that was still using tapes).
